Description
Clos du Clocher Pomerol 2020, Jean-Baptiste Audy
Region: Pomerol, Bordeaux, France
Grape: 75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc
Tasting Notes: The nose has powerful notes of blackberries, blackcurrants and spice, followed by a palate bursting with fruit, hints of chocolate and a supple tannin structure.
Food Pairing: Pairs fantastically with roast chicken, or earthy mushroom & truffle dishes.
This beautiful Pomerol from the Bourotte family is farmed sustainably and shows a great expression of the terroir. Small production on 40-year-old vines grown on the famous gravelly-clay soils of the Pomerol plateau. Hand harvested and fermented using natural yeasts, the base wine is carefully hand-tended to extract as much character as possible from the fruit. The wine sees 18 months in fine-grained French oak barrels, 60% of which are new – this adds a level of structure and complexity to the wine in line with the complex and premium quality of the fruit.
