Grape: Touriga Nacional 40%, Jaen 25%, Alfrocheiro 20%, Tinta Roriz 15%
Tasting Notes: With grapes selected from only the best vines and slopes of Penalva do Castelo located on granite soils. Six months oak ageing gives subtle notes of vanilla and toast which combine with the juicy blackberry and cherry fruits.
Food Pairing: Great with BBQ meats and tomato based dishes.
Located South of the Duoro Valley, Dao is one of the oldest established wine regions of Portugal. Adega de Penalva do Castelo is a Dão winery revived by Abegoaria, the winemaking project of the Bio family. Originally from Alentejo, Ana and Manuel Bio have invested in Portugal’s wine heritage; modernising facilities, and revitalising wineries in historic wine regions. Always with the same purpose and determination – to contribute for the preservation of the best of the Portuguese identity and empowering the locals.
