Description
Pernilla Perle Brännland 2017
Country: Sweden
Tasting Notes: A medium-dry cider, yet full-bodied character balanced by sweetness and a pronounced acidity.
Pairing: Goes well as an aperitif, with Asian influenced or heavy pork dishes and a range of desserts.
The 2017 was one of the hardest years for decades for apple growing in Sweden with heavy frost and hail in the spring. As a result, the 2017 harvest has given Pernilla Perle a rather more elegant and complex style. The balance between sugar, alcohol and fruit has been joined by a length that holds great promise for future development and ageing.
It is lightly sparkling with a golden hue. With smells of nectarine, pear, apple blossom, honey, vinous and tastes of pear, ripe apple, lychee and orange on the palate. It has a lingering structure with a juicy flavours and an acidic profile on finish.
Brännland Cider started in 2010 with the dream of making great cider using apples grown in the cold climate of northern Sweden. After two years of trial, error, discovery and progress we came to the conclusion that our fruit and climate were best suited for making Ice Cider or as it’s called in it’s country of origin, Cidre De Glace. A few years into Brännland Ciders existence we produce several varieties of ice cider for the domestic and international market.
