Description

Wormtub 10 Year Old is a fantastic Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from a distillery that continues to get great use out of its worm tub. It’s been finished in sherry casks before being bottled at natural cask strength without any added caramel for colouring.

The Wormtub (long copper coiled tub in cold water in a large vat) can impart a distinctive, heavy, robust flavour compared to the more modern and efficient condensers, which many distilleries have switched over to.

This whisky opens boldly with aromas of dates and walnuts, followed by maple syrup. Flamed orange peel, a spicy kick of peppercorn leading into rich forest floor earthiness.

The palate impresses with dark chocolate, punchy cassia and rye, salted butter, a thick layer of caramel, liquorice, tangy dried cranberries, and smoky oak. This leads to a finish of sultana, savoury spiced, heavy malt & roasted nuts.
