Description
Luce Brunello di Montalcino
Region : Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
Grape : Sangiovese
The Frescobaldi family and Robert Mondavi’s aim was to produce some of the best wines the Montalcino region has to offer. Luce Brunello di Montalcino was the first wine in Italy to ever achieve the DOCG status.
The Sangiovese grapes were harvested in mid-September. After a 12-day fermentation at 28oC (82.4oF), the wine macerated on the skins for four weeks, followed by maturation in large Slavonian oak barrels for 24 months. 30,000 bottles were produced.
“Compact ruby red colour, the wine’s nose is concentrated with notes of red fruits, mainly morello cherry, ripe red orange and spices. On the palate, the wine is rich and enveloping, with a beautiful tension that enhances the perfectly integrated tannic texture. The finish fascinates for its great flavor and long persistence. A wine of extraordinary integrity, with great aging potential.”
