Made from 100% malted barley, whisky distilled in a Coffey still is matured in old casks to enhance the rich maltiness, complexity and a silky texture.”
The Coffey still is the worlds first patented continuous still. Masatake Taketsuru learnt how to distill grain whisky first hand from craftsmen in Bo’ness in 1919. After establishing Nikka Whisky, he imported and istalled two Coffey stills from Scotland – they are not easy to operate but retain flavours originating from the raw material and deliver a distinctive creamy texture.
